St. Andrews 2/5th September 2010

The participants arrived at different times, most met in the evening of the 2nd (Thursday).  Everybody, except Steinar who was too busy in the Far East and Ola who had to return from Gardermoen to look after his son who was taken ill, met for breakfast at he Greyfriars Hotel.  Fortunately Ola’s son quickly recovered and Ola made the tee off in time.  The weather was beautiful and we all looked forward to the first match at Jubilee just after noon.  It turned out to be a great day at the course, warm and not very windy (Messrs. Markussen/Valeur enjoyed the indian summer in shorts).  We finished between 17.00 and 18.00 and got ready for dinner a few hours later after a short nap and a shower.  Great steak dinner at the pub down the road.  Food was accompanied by excellent red wine.  Gentlemen, there are two important things in life to remember, particularly at our age: Life is too short to dance with ugly women and to drink bad wine!  Remember that before you complain about the wine price. (and the price of a girl for that matter......).

The Saturday match was played at Kittocks.  Some experience for those who were not too familiar with links courses.  The weather was still great but it was very windy, straight in from the North Sea.
The rough was unforgiving and the sand traps where like hell.  Anyway, it was very enjoyable and the writer looks forward to play this course again.
